Tokyo Electric Power Co. filed an application Friday with a government-backed body for about 1 trillion yen in funds to finance compensation payments in connection with the nuclear crisis at the utility’s Fukushima No. 1 power plant.
TEPCO and the Nuclear Damage Liability Facilitation Fund, which was jointly established in September by the government and power utilities with nuclear reactors, on the same day finalized the company’s emergency business plan.
The plan, which sets out specific restructuring steps as prerequisites for government assistance to the operator of the crippled plant, was submitted to Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Yukio Edano later Friday for approval.
Provided the minister gives the go-ahead to the emergency plan, TEPCO will start paying compensation to people affected by the nuclear crisis with the compensation body’s funds.
The amount TEPCO requested from the the compensation body is meant to cover part of the first two years of compensation payments, which are estimated at 4.5 trillion yen, government officials said.

Police State Fascism Is Now Rampant: Martial Law Is Next!

It is the invariable habit of bureaucracies, at all times and everywhere, to assume…that every citizen is a criminal. Their one apparent purpose, pursued with a relentless and furious diligence, is to convert the assumption into a fact. "If You See Something, Say Something" is the detestable slogan of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This is nothing more than a campaign by this monstrous government bureaucracy to pit citizen against citizen due to false fears instilled in the people by that same bureaucracy. The government is spying on everything we do, and it is now fooling the fools into spying on themselves. This is the ultimate in serf-like behavior.
Currently, the state of Tennessee is acting as a testing ground for the federal government’s assault on the citizen’s right to privacy. TSA goons dressed in state sanctioned garb, and heavily armed "law enforcement" cretins with drug sniffing dogs, are harassing the people of Tennessee on interstate highways and bus stations. They are doing this of course all in the name of stopping terrorism. It is interesting how these state simpletons can at the same time terrorize the general populace while protecting them from terrorism.
The object of this charade of course is not to stop terrorism, but to intimidate (terrorize) the people, and to habituate them, so that they will come to expect and accept this kind of treatment in order to be "safe." This indoctrination training by the state is meant only to beat down the individual into submission, so that state thugs can gain more control. This is not a new concept, but in the U.S. today, police state abuses are not only greatly increasing in numbers, but also are becoming more invasive as every day passes.
The mainstream media claims that Tennessee is the first state to fight terrorism statewide, but illegal checkpoints are now being set up all across the country. The DHS now claims the right to stop and harass anyone, ask for their "papers," and search them within 100 miles of any U.S. border. This invasive and illegitimate nonsense affects over 190 million citizens, or about two thirds of the entire population. The very abusive conduct by these agents of the state is not restricted to Tennessee, it is evident nationwide. Checkpoints are everywhere it seems, and the numbers are increasing.
Warrantless searches are already common at airports, and take place also at train stations, bus terminals, and subway systems, but once this fully expands to our roads and highways, there will be no limits left. Those who choose not to fly so they can escape the groping, radiation, and humiliation of airport "security" dished out by the evil TSA, may now find themselves at risk of this same type of treatment when they simply choose to take a Sunday drive. We are quickly becoming consumed by this fascist state called America!
Another news report tells of warrantless searches taking place in Flint, Michigan. Roadblocks are set up, and drug-sniffing dogs are turned lose to check the vehicles of unsuspecting motorists. The Genesee County sheriff has set these up at least seven times this month. Actually, warrantless searches are now common, everyday events, and many get the blessing of the very corrupt U.S. Supreme Court. Last May in an 8 to 1 ruling, the Supreme Court gave a green light for police to break into anyone’s home should they "think" that the resident was hiding evidence. Justice Samuel Alito said that "Residents who attempt to destroy evidence have only themselves to blame" when police bust down their door. This moronic thinking completely negates the idea of freedom.
Cars can now be searched in many instances without the officer having to obtain a warrant. This is happening often, and in addition, the private property of those stopped or arrested by low IQ state agents of force is in many cases stolen via the search and seizure process. Many police departments are funding their entire operations by thievery. This should come as no surprise to anyone, as policemen as a group commit as many violent crimes per capita as does society, so is there any difference between police and criminals? Actually, the police and all government agents are much more dangerous than the common criminal!
According to the National Police Misconduct Statistics and Reporting Project, the police commit more violent crimes of assaults, sexual assaults, murder, and fatal excessive force, per capita than the rest of society. Those who are commissioned to "protect and serve" do nothing of the kind. Given that the numbers of police crimes reported are in my opinion far undercounted, the problem is much worse than is imaginable.
We are all now subject to search and seizure without warrant. We are subject to groping, sexual assault, and radiation by the TSA. Our homes can be invaded, and our pets or family members killed without cause. The advent and acceptance of the Taser has allowed the state’s gendarmes to brutally inflict pain, suffering, and sometimes death to anyone they choose, and usually without consequence.
And now, these same tactics will be used on our roads and highways, which means that lowly citizens across the entire country will be accessible to these hoodlums.
Police and government agents, including the military, are training and preparing for civil unrest. What do they know that the masses don’t? They have military equipment, even in some cases tanks, and they are receiving ongoing military training. They are actively and sometimes brutally, going after dissenters brave enough to assemble. This preparation by the Leviathan state is now happening nationwide, especially in the larger cities. New York City has been especially aggressive in its civil unrest planning. This does not bode well for our future. It is a blatant show of force, and the intent of the Department of Homeland Security, and all its police partners across the country is total control of the citizenry.
Our situation is worsening by the day, and the state apparatus is preparing to fight against its own citizens here at home. This is a precarious situation that could spiral out of control, and we are terribly close in my opinion, to being in an uncontrollable police state environment.
When this happens, the obvious next step will be Martial Law. Once that stage is reached, it may be too late to stop the coming onslaught of the totalitarian state. This is a serious threat, and one that could result in violence and chaos in the streets of America. All need to be aware of this progression, and all need to prepare to stop it. Anything less will result in a complete loss of what little freedom we have left, and our lives may be forever harmed.
The state is always and forever the enemy of the people. It has nothing, it creates nothing, it produces nothing, and it lives and survives by looting, stealing, beating, and murdering. It is time to remove the power the state holds over us, and to try liberty instead of slavery. I say its time to abolish the state!

America’s Secret Empire of Drone Bases: Its Full Extent Revealed for the First Time

They increasingly dot the planet. There’s a facility outside Las Vegas where “pilots” work in climate-controlled trailers, another at a dusty camp in Africa formerly used by the French Foreign Legion, a third at a big air base in Afghanistan where Air Force personnel sit in front of multiple computer screens, and a fourth that almost no one talks about at an air base in the United Arab Emirates.
And that leaves at least 56 more such facilities to mention in an expanding American empire of unmanned drone bases being set up worldwide. Despite frequent news reports on the drone assassination campaign launched in support of America’s ever-widening undeclared wars and a spate of stories on drone bases in Africa and the Middle East, most of these facilities have remained unnoted, uncounted, and remarkably anonymous -- until now.
Run by the military, the Central Intelligence Agency, and their proxies, these bases -- some little more than desolate airstrips, others sophisticated command and control centers filled with computer screens and high-tech electronic equipment -- are the backbone of a new American robotic way of war. They are also the latest development in a long-evolving saga of American power projection abroad -- in this case, remote-controlled strikes anywhere on the planet with a minimal foreign “footprint” and little accountability.
Using military documents, press accounts and other open source information, an in-depth analysis by AlterNet has identified at least 60 bases integral to U.S. military and CIA drone operations. There may, however, be more, since a cloak of secrecy about drone warfare leaves the full size and scope of these bases distinctly in the shadows.
A Galaxy of Bases
Over the last decade, the American use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) has expanded exponentially as has media coverage of their use. On September 21st, the Wall Street Journal reported that the military has deployed missile-armed MQ-9 Reaper drones on the “island nation of Seychelles to intensify attacks on al Qaeda affiliates, particularly in Somalia.” A day earlier, a Washington Post piece also mentioned the same base on the tiny Indian Ocean archipelago, as well as one in the African nation of Djibouti, another under construction in Ethiopia, and a secret CIA airstrip being built for drones in an unnamed Middle Eastern country (suspected of being Saudi Arabia).
Post journalists Greg Miller and Craig Whitlock reported that the “Obama administration is assembling a constellation of secret drone bases for counterterrorism operations in the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula as part of a newly aggressive campaign to attack al-Qaeda affiliates in Somalia and Yemen.” Within days, the Post also reported that a drone from the new CIA base in that unidentified Middle Eastern country had carried out the assassination of radical al-Qaeda preacher and American citizen Anwar al-Aulaqi in Yemen.
With the killing of al-Aulaqi, the Obama Administration has expanded its armed drone campaign to no fewer than six countries, though the CIA, which killed al-Aulaqi, refuses to officially acknowledge its drone assassination program. The Air Force is less coy about its drone operations, yet there are many aspects of those, too, that remain in the shadows. Air Force spokesman Lieutenant Colonel John Haynes recently told AlterNet that, “for operational security reasons, we do not discuss worldwide operating locations of Remotely Piloted Aircraft, to include numbers of locations around the world.”
Still, those 60 military and CIA bases around the world, directly connected to the drone program, tell us a lot about America’s war-making future. From command and control and piloting to maintenance and arming, these facilities perform key functions that allow drone campaigns to continued expanding as they have for more than a decade. Other bases are already under construction or in the planning stages. When presented with our list of Air Force sites within America’s galaxy of drone bases, Lieutenant Colonel Haynes responded, “I have nothing further to add to what I’ve already said.”
Even in the face of government secrecy, however, much can be discovered . Here, then, for the record is a AlterNet accounting of America’s drone bases in the United States and around the world.
The Near Abroad
News reports have frequently focused on Creech Air Force Base outside Las Vegas as ground zero in America’s military drone campaign. Sitting in darkened, air conditioned rooms, 7,500 miles from Afghanistan, drone pilots dressed in flight suits remotely control MQ-9 Reapers and their progenitors, the less heavily-armed MQ-1 Predators. Beside them, sensor operators manipulate the TV camera, infrared camera, and other high-tech sensors on board. Their faces lit up by digital displays showing video feeds from the battle zone, by squeezing a trigger on a joystick one of these Air Force “pilots” can loose a Hellfire missile on a person half a world away.
While Creech gets the lion’s share of attention -- it even has its own drones on site -- numerous other bases on U.S. soil have played critical roles in America’s drone wars. The same video-game-style warfare is carried out by U.S and British pilots not far away at Nevada’s Nellis Air Force Base, the home of the Air Force’s 2nd Special Operations Squadron (SOS). According to a factsheet provided to AlterNet by the Air Force, the 2nd SOS and its drone operators are scheduled to be relocated to the Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurlburt Field in Florida in the coming months.
Reapers or Predators are also being flown from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona, Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, March Air Reserve Base in California, Springfield Air National Guard Base in Ohio, Cannon Air Force Base and Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, Ellington Airport in Houston, Texas, the Air National Guard base in Fargo, North Dakota, Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, and Hancock Field Air National Guard Base in Syracuse, New York. Recently, it was announced that Reapers, flown by Hancock’s pilots, would begin taking off on training missions from the Army’s Fort Drum, also in New York State. While at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, according to a report by the New York Times earlier this year, teams of camouflage-clad Air Force analysts sit in a secret intelligence and surveillance installation monitoring cell phone intercepts, high altitude photographs, and most notably, multiple screens of streaming live video from drones in Afghanistan -- what they call “Death TV” -- while instant-messaging and talking to commanders on the ground in order to supply them with real-time intelligence on enemy troop movements.
CIA drone operators also reportedly pilot their aircraft from the Agency’s nearby Langley, Virginia headquarters. It was from here that analysts apparently watched footage of Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan, for example, thanks to video sent back by the RQ-170 Sentinel, an advanced drone nicknamed the “Beast of Kandahar.” According to Air Force documents, the Sentinel is flown from both Creech Air Force Base and Tonopah Test Range in Nevada.
Predators, Reapers, and Sentinels are just part of the story. At Beale Air Force Base in California, Air Force personnel pilot the RQ-4 Global Hawk, an unmanned drone used for long-range, high-altitude surveillance missions, some of them originating from Anderson Air Force Base in Guam (a staging ground for drone flights over Asia). Other Global Hawks are stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota, while the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio manages the Global Hawk as well as the Predator and Reaper programs for the Air Force.
Other bases have been intimately involved in training drone operators, including Randolph Air Force Base in Texas and New Mexico’s Kirtland Air Force Base, as is the Army’s Fort Huachuca in Arizona which is home to, according to a report by National Defense magazine, “the world’s largest UAV training center.” There, hundreds of employees of defense giant General Dynamics train military personnel to fly smaller tactical drones like the Hunter and Shadow. The physical testing of drones goes on at adjoining Libby Army Airfield and “two UAV runways located approximately four miles west of Libby,” according to Global Security, an on-line clearinghouse for military information.
Additionally, small drone training for the Army is carried out at Fort Benning in Georgia while at Fort Rucker, Alabama -- “the home of Army aviation” -- the Unmanned Aircraft Systems program coordinates doctrine, strategy, and concepts pertaining to UAVs. Recently, Fort Benning also saw the early testing of true robotic drones – which fly without human guidance or a hand on any joystick. This is considered, wrote the Washington Post, the next step toward a future in which drones will “hunt, identify, and kill the enemy based on calculations made by software, not decisions made by humans.”
The Army has also carried out UAV training exercises at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah and, earlier this year, the Navy launched its X-47B, a next-generation semi-autonomous stealth drone, on its first flight at Edwards Air Force Base in California. That flying robot -- designed to operate from the decks of aircraft carriers -- has since been sent on to Maryland’s Naval Air Station Patuxent River for further testing. At nearby Webster Field, the Navy worked out kinks in its Fire Scout pilotless helicopter, which has also been tested at Fort Rucker, Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, and Florida’s Mayport Naval Station and Jacksonville Naval Air Station. The latter base was also where the Navy’s Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) unmanned aerial system was developed and is now, along with Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington State, based.
Foreign Jewels in the Crown
The Navy is actively looking for a suitable site in the Western Pacific for a BAMS base, and is currently in talks with several Persian Gulf states for one in that region, as well. It already has Global Hawks perched at its base in Sigonella, Italy.
The Air Force is now negotiating with Turkey to relocate some of the Predator drones still operating in Iraq to the giant air base at Incirlik next year. Many different UAVs have been based in Iraq since the American invasion of that country, including small tactical models like Raven-B’s that troops launched by hand from Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Shadow UAVs that flew from Forward Operating Base Normandy in Baqubah Province, Predators operating out of Balad Airbase, miniature Desert Hawk drones launched from Tallil Air Base, and Scan Eagles based at Al Asad Air Base.
Elsewhere in the Greater Middle East, according to Aviation Week, the military is launching Global Hawks from Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, piloted by personnel stationed at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland, to track “shipping traffic in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Arabian Sea.” There are unconfirmed reports that the CIA may be operating drones from that country as well. In the past, at least, other UAVs have apparently been flown from Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base and Al Jaber Air Base, as well as Seeb Air Base in Oman.
At Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the Air Force runs an air operations command and control facility, critical to the drone wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The new secret CIA base on the Arabian peninsula, used to assassinate Anwar al-Aulaqi, may or may not be an airstrip in Saudi Arabia whose existence a senior U.S. military official recently confirmed to FOX News. In the past, the CIA has also operated UAVs out of Tuzel, Uzbekistan.
In neighboring Afghanistan, drones fly from many bases including Jalalabad Air Base, Kandahar Air Field, the air base at Bagram, Camp Leatherneck, Camp Dwyer, Combat Outpost Payne, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Edinburgh and FOB Delaram II, to name a few. Afghan bases are, however, more than just locations where drones take off and land.
It is a common misperception that U.S.-based operators are the only ones who “fly” America’s armed drones. In fact, in and around America’s war zones, UAVs begin and end their flights under the control of local “pilots.” Take Afghanistan’s massive Bagram Air Base. After performing preflight checks alongside a technician who focuses on the drone’s sensors, a local airman sits in front of a Dell computer tower and multiple monitors, two keyboards, a joystick, a throttle, a rollerball, a mouse, and various switches and oversees the plane’s takeoff before handing it over to a stateside counterpart with a similar electronics set-up. After the mission is complete, the controls are transferred back to the local operators for the landing. Additionally, crews in Afghanistan perform general maintenance and repairs on the drones.
In the wake of a devastating suicide attack by an al-Qaeda double agent that killed CIA officers and contractors at Forward Operating Base Chapman in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Khost in 2009, it came to light that the facility was heavily involved in target selection for drone strikes across the border in Pakistan. The drones themselves, as the Washington Post noted at the time, were “flown from separate bases in Afghanistan and Pakistan.”
Both the Air Force and CIA have conducted operations in Pakistani air space, with some missions originating in Afghanistan and others from inside Pakistan. In 2006, images of what appear to be Predator drones stationed at Shamsi Air Base in Pakistan's Balochistan province were found on Google Earth and later published. In 2009, the New York Times reported that operatives from Xe Services, the company formerly known as Blackwater, had taken over the task of arming Predator drones at the CIA’s “hidden bases in Pakistan and Afghanistan.”
Following the May Navy SEAL raid into Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden, that country’s leaders reportedly ordered the United States to leave Shamsi. The Obama administration evidently refused and word leaked out, according to the Washington Post, that the base was actually owned and sublet to the U.S. by the United Arab Emirates, which had built the airfield “as an arrival point for falconry and other hunting expeditions in Pakistan.”
The U.S. and Pakistani governments have since claimed that Shamsi is no longer being used for drone strikes. True or not, the U.S. evidently also uses other drone bases in Pakistan, including possibly PAF Base Shahbaz, located near the city of Jacocobad, and another base located near Ghazi.
The New Scramble for Africa
Recently, the headline story, when it comes to the expansion of the empire of drone bases, has been Africa. For the last decade, the U.S. military has been operating out of Camp Lemonier, a former French Foreign Legion base in the tiny African nation of Djibouti. Not long after the attacks of September 11, 2001, it became a base for Predator drones and has since been used to conduct missions over neighboring Somalia.
For some time, rumors have also been circulating about a secret American base in Ethiopia. Recently, a U.S. official revealed to the Washington Post that discussions about a drone base there had been underway for up to four years, “but that plan was delayed because ‘the Ethiopians were not all that jazzed.’” Now construction is evidently underway, if not complete.
Then, of course, there is that drone base on the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. A small fleet of Navy and Air Force drones began operating openly there in 2009 to track pirates in the region’s waters. Classified diplomatic cables obtained by Wikileaks, however, reveal that those drones have also secretly been used to carry out missions in Somalia. “Based in a hangar located about a quarter-mile from the main passenger terminal at the airport,” the Post reports, the base consists of three or four “Reapers and about 100 U.S. military personnel and contractors, according to the cables.”
The U.S. has also recently sent four smaller tactical drones to the African nations of Uganda and Burundi for use by those countries’ own militaries.
New and Old Empires
Even if the Pentagon budget were to begin to shrink in the coming years, expansion of America’s empire of drone bases is a sure thing in the years to come. Drones are now the bedrock of Washington’s future military planning and -- with counterinsurgency out of favor -- the preferred way of carrying out wars abroad.
During the eight years of George W. Bush’s presidency, as the U.S. was building up its drone fleets, the country launched wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and carried out limited strikes in Yemen, Pakistan, and Somalia, using drones in at least four of those countries. In less than three years under President Obama, the U.S. has launched drone strikes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen. It maintains that it has carte blanche to kill suspected enemies in any nation (or at least any nation in the global south).
According to a report by the Congressional Budget office published earlier this year, “the Department of Defense (DoD) plans to purchase about 730 new medium-sized and large unmanned aircraft systems” over the next decade. In practical terms, this means more drones like the Reaper.
Military officials told the Wall Street Journal that the Reaper “can fly 1,150 miles from base, conduct missions and return home… the time a drone can stay aloft depends on how heavily armed it is.” According to a drone operator training document obtained by AlterNet, at maximum payload, meaning with 3,750 pounds worth of Hellfire missiles and GBU-12 or GBU-30 bombs on board, the Reaper can remain aloft for 16 to 20 hours. Even a glance at a world map tells you that, if the U.S. is to carry out ever more drone strikes across the developing world, it will need more bases for its future UAVs. As an unnamed senior military official pointed out to a Washington Post reporter, speaking of all those new drone bases clustered around the Somali and Yemeni war zones, “If you look at it geographically, it makes sense -- you get out a ruler and draw the distances [drones] can fly and where they take off from.”
Earlier this year, an analysis by TomDispatch.com determined that there are more than 1,000 U.S. military bases scattered across the globe -- a shadowy base-world that provides plenty of existing sites that can, and no doubt will, host drones. But facilities selected for a pre-drone world may not always prove optimal locations for America’s current and future undeclared wars and assassination campaigns. So further expansion in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia is likely.
What are the Air Force’s plans in this regard? Lieutenant Colonel John Haynes was typically circumspect. “We are constantly evaluating potential operating locations based on evolving mission needs,” he said. If the last decade is any indication, those “needs” will only continue to grow.

They increasingly dot the planet. There’s a facility outside Las Vegas where “pilots” work in climate-controlled trailers, another at a dusty camp in Africa formerly used by the French Foreign Legion, a third at a big air base in Afghanistan where Air Force personnel sit in front of multiple computer screens, and a fourth that almost no one talks about at an air base in the United Arab Emirates.
And that leaves at least 56 more such facilities to mention in an expanding American empire of unmanned drone bases being set up worldwide. Despite frequent news reports on the drone assassination campaign launched in support of America’s ever-widening undeclared wars and a spate of stories on drone bases in Africa and the Middle East, most of these facilities have remained unnoted, uncounted, and remarkably anonymous -- until now.
Run by the military, the Central Intelligence Agency, and their proxies, these bases -- some little more than desolate airstrips, others sophisticated command and control centers filled with computer screens and high-tech electronic equipment -- are the backbone of a new American robotic way of war. They are also the latest development in a long-evolving saga of American power projection abroad -- in this case, remote-controlled strikes anywhere on the planet with a minimal foreign “footprint” and little accountability.
Using military documents, press accounts and other open source information, an in-depth analysis by AlterNet has identified at least 60 bases integral to U.S. military and CIA drone operations. There may, however, be more, since a cloak of secrecy about drone warfare leaves the full size and scope of these bases distinctly in the shadows.
A Galaxy of Bases
Over the last decade, the American use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned aerial systems (UAS) has expanded exponentially as has media coverage of their use. On September 21st, the Wall Street Journal reported that the military has deployed missile-armed MQ-9 Reaper drones on the “island nation of Seychelles to intensify attacks on al Qaeda affiliates, particularly in Somalia.” A day earlier, a Washington Post piece also mentioned the same base on the tiny Indian Ocean archipelago, as well as one in the African nation of Djibouti, another under construction in Ethiopia, and a secret CIA airstrip being built for drones in an unnamed Middle Eastern country (suspected of being Saudi Arabia).
Post journalists Greg Miller and Craig Whitlock reported that the “Obama administration is assembling a constellation of secret drone bases for counterterrorism operations in the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula as part of a newly aggressive campaign to attack al-Qaeda affiliates in Somalia and Yemen.” Within days, the Post also reported that a drone from the new CIA base in that unidentified Middle Eastern country had carried out the assassination of radical al-Qaeda preacher and American citizen Anwar al-Aulaqi in Yemen.
With the killing of al-Aulaqi, the Obama Administration has expanded its armed drone campaign to no fewer than six countries, though the CIA, which killed al-Aulaqi, refuses to officially acknowledge its drone assassination program. The Air Force is less coy about its drone operations, yet there are many aspects of those, too, that remain in the shadows. Air Force spokesman Lieutenant Colonel John Haynes recently told AlterNet that, “for operational security reasons, we do not discuss worldwide operating locations of Remotely Piloted Aircraft, to include numbers of locations around the world.”
Still, those 60 military and CIA bases around the world, directly connected to the drone program, tell us a lot about America’s war-making future. From command and control and piloting to maintenance and arming, these facilities perform key functions that allow drone campaigns to continued expanding as they have for more than a decade. Other bases are already under construction or in the planning stages. When presented with our list of Air Force sites within America’s galaxy of drone bases, Lieutenant Colonel Haynes responded, “I have nothing further to add to what I’ve already said.”
Even in the face of government secrecy, however, much can be discovered . Here, then, for the record is a AlterNet accounting of America’s drone bases in the United States and around the world.
The Near Abroad
News reports have frequently focused on Creech Air Force Base outside Las Vegas as ground zero in America’s military drone campaign. Sitting in darkened, air conditioned rooms, 7,500 miles from Afghanistan, drone pilots dressed in flight suits remotely control MQ-9 Reapers and their progenitors, the less heavily-armed MQ-1 Predators. Beside them, sensor operators manipulate the TV camera, infrared camera, and other high-tech sensors on board. Their faces lit up by digital displays showing video feeds from the battle zone, by squeezing a trigger on a joystick one of these Air Force “pilots” can loose a Hellfire missile on a person half a world away.
While Creech gets the lion’s share of attention -- it even has its own drones on site -- numerous other bases on U.S. soil have played critical roles in America’s drone wars. The same video-game-style warfare is carried out by U.S and British pilots not far away at Nevada’s Nellis Air Force Base, the home of the Air Force’s 2nd Special Operations Squadron (SOS). According to a factsheet provided to AlterNet by the Air Force, the 2nd SOS and its drone operators are scheduled to be relocated to the Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurlburt Field in Florida in the coming months.
Reapers or Predators are also being flown from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona, Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri, March Air Reserve Base in California, Springfield Air National Guard Base in Ohio, Cannon Air Force Base and Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, Ellington Airport in Houston, Texas, the Air National Guard base in Fargo, North Dakota, Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, and Hancock Field Air National Guard Base in Syracuse, New York. Recently, it was announced that Reapers, flown by Hancock’s pilots, would begin taking off on training missions from the Army’s Fort Drum, also in New York State. While at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia, according to a report by the New York Times earlier this year, teams of camouflage-clad Air Force analysts sit in a secret intelligence and surveillance installation monitoring cell phone intercepts, high altitude photographs, and most notably, multiple screens of streaming live video from drones in Afghanistan -- what they call “Death TV” -- while instant-messaging and talking to commanders on the ground in order to supply them with real-time intelligence on enemy troop movements.
CIA drone operators also reportedly pilot their aircraft from the Agency’s nearby Langley, Virginia headquarters. It was from here that analysts apparently watched footage of Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan, for example, thanks to video sent back by the RQ-170 Sentinel, an advanced drone nicknamed the “Beast of Kandahar.” According to Air Force documents, the Sentinel is flown from both Creech Air Force Base and Tonopah Test Range in Nevada.
Predators, Reapers, and Sentinels are just part of the story. At Beale Air Force Base in California, Air Force personnel pilot the RQ-4 Global Hawk, an unmanned drone used for long-range, high-altitude surveillance missions, some of them originating from Anderson Air Force Base in Guam (a staging ground for drone flights over Asia). Other Global Hawks are stationed at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota, while the Aeronautical Systems Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio manages the Global Hawk as well as the Predator and Reaper programs for the Air Force.
Other bases have been intimately involved in training drone operators, including Randolph Air Force Base in Texas and New Mexico’s Kirtland Air Force Base, as is the Army’s Fort Huachuca in Arizona which is home to, according to a report by National Defense magazine, “the world’s largest UAV training center.” There, hundreds of employees of defense giant General Dynamics train military personnel to fly smaller tactical drones like the Hunter and Shadow. The physical testing of drones goes on at adjoining Libby Army Airfield and “two UAV runways located approximately four miles west of Libby,” according to Global Security, an on-line clearinghouse for military information.
Additionally, small drone training for the Army is carried out at Fort Benning in Georgia while at Fort Rucker, Alabama -- “the home of Army aviation” -- the Unmanned Aircraft Systems program coordinates doctrine, strategy, and concepts pertaining to UAVs. Recently, Fort Benning also saw the early testing of true robotic drones – which fly without human guidance or a hand on any joystick. This is considered, wrote the Washington Post, the next step toward a future in which drones will “hunt, identify, and kill the enemy based on calculations made by software, not decisions made by humans.”
The Army has also carried out UAV training exercises at Dugway Proving Ground in Utah and, earlier this year, the Navy launched its X-47B, a next-generation semi-autonomous stealth drone, on its first flight at Edwards Air Force Base in California. That flying robot -- designed to operate from the decks of aircraft carriers -- has since been sent on to Maryland’s Naval Air Station Patuxent River for further testing. At nearby Webster Field, the Navy worked out kinks in its Fire Scout pilotless helicopter, which has also been tested at Fort Rucker, Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, and Florida’s Mayport Naval Station and Jacksonville Naval Air Station. The latter base was also where the Navy’s Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) unmanned aerial system was developed and is now, along with Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington State, based.
Foreign Jewels in the Crown
The Navy is actively looking for a suitable site in the Western Pacific for a BAMS base, and is currently in talks with several Persian Gulf states for one in that region, as well. It already has Global Hawks perched at its base in Sigonella, Italy.
The Air Force is now negotiating with Turkey to relocate some of the Predator drones still operating in Iraq to the giant air base at Incirlik next year. Many different UAVs have been based in Iraq since the American invasion of that country, including small tactical models like Raven-B’s that troops launched by hand from Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Shadow UAVs that flew from Forward Operating Base Normandy in Baqubah Province, Predators operating out of Balad Airbase, miniature Desert Hawk drones launched from Tallil Air Base, and Scan Eagles based at Al Asad Air Base.
Elsewhere in the Greater Middle East, according to Aviation Week, the military is launching Global Hawks from Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, piloted by personnel stationed at Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland, to track “shipping traffic in the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormuz and Arabian Sea.” There are unconfirmed reports that the CIA may be operating drones from that country as well. In the past, at least, other UAVs have apparently been flown from Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base and Al Jaber Air Base, as well as Seeb Air Base in Oman.
At Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, the Air Force runs an air operations command and control facility, critical to the drone wars in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The new secret CIA base on the Arabian peninsula, used to assassinate Anwar al-Aulaqi, may or may not be an airstrip in Saudi Arabia whose existence a senior U.S. military official recently confirmed to FOX News. In the past, the CIA has also operated UAVs out of Tuzel, Uzbekistan.

My people have become slack while waiting for My words to come to pass. They mistakenly think they have more time than they do. I desire they would stay vigilant and remain watchful, for the enemy often lulls them to sleep in this way.
My Kingdom does not operate on your system of time, My people. Once I have spoken something, it is sure to come to pass for it is ordained by Me. I created all things and I created time as well, that you may measure it, however in eternity there is no time.
Things are coming soon in the earth you will not understand. The enemy moves quickly against My people in the earth and he has made many plans of destruction. Some of his plans will fail but others shall succeed. It is necessary that each of you listen for My leading and pay heed to the leadings inside your spirit that come from Me for I shall lead you to safety in this way from events that are planned against you.
Days grow darker and darker in the earth and evil abounds on every side. My word has foretold these things and much more, but there is even more yet to come that you know not of. Be vigilant against the enemy of your souls. Be found watching and praying at all times for danger lurks in places you cannot see. I will protect you if you obey Me in all things.
There is much work to be done to bring the harvest of souls in to My kingdom. I desire My people would spend time each day interceding for lost souls, that more may be saved from eternal damnation. My people are about too many things that have no eternal value, they are still playing in the world.
Do you not know the lateness of the hour, My children? Do you not realize you will answer to Me for how you spend your time now? Do you not desire that your heavenly reward would be great? Or has the enemy lulled you to sleep while you waited on My words to come to pass in your life?
Many of you have suffered long and laborious trials, trials where you lost many of your earthly possessions. You cried out to Me and asked why. Many of you suffer still in your walk with Me, fighting to hang on to your faith. I say to you now that your faith shall be greatly rewarded. Your perseverance shall be greatly rewarded. There is nothing you do for My name's sake that I do not notice. There is nothing you do for Me that you will not be rewarded for and greatly so.
For some of you I shall reveal to you the reasons for your long trials in days to come. Others will know later. Some of you, however, have brought your trials upon yourselves when you did not heed My voice of warning to you at an earlier time.
Often I am blamed for trials My children suffer which they brought upon themselves by sin, ignoring My warnings or other disobedience. This should not be so, My children, for I am a loving and a faithful father. How can I keep you safe if you will not obey Me?
How will you survive what is coming when you continue to go your own way?

My people have become slack while waiting for My words to come to pass. They mistakenly think they have more time than they do. I desire they would stay vigilant and remain watchful, for the enemy often lulls them to sleep in this way.
My Kingdom does not operate on your system of time, My people. Once I have spoken something, it is sure to come to pass for it is ordained by Me. I created all things and I created time as well, that you may measure it, however in eternity there is no time.
Things are coming soon in the earth you will not understand. The enemy moves quickly against My people in the earth and he has made many plans of destruction. Some of his plans will fail but others shall succeed. It is necessary that each of you listen for My leading and pay heed to the leadings inside your spirit that come from Me for I shall lead you to safety in this way from events that are planned against you.
Days grow darker and darker in the earth and evil abounds on every side. My word has foretold these things and much more, but there is even more yet to come that you know not of. Be vigilant against the enemy of your souls. Be found watching and praying at all times for danger lurks in places you cannot see. I will protect you if you obey Me in all things.
There is much work to be done to bring the harvest of souls in to My kingdom. I desire My people would spend time each day interceding for lost souls, that more may be saved from eternal damnation. My people are about too many things that have no eternal value, they are still playing in the world.
Do you not know the lateness of the hour, My children? Do you not realize you will answer to Me for how you spend your time now? Do you not desire that your heavenly reward would be great? Or has the enemy lulled you to sleep while you waited on My words to come to pass in your life?
Many of you have suffered long and laborious trials, trials where you lost many of your earthly possessions. You cried out to Me and asked why. Many of you suffer still in your walk with Me, fighting to hang on to your faith. I say to you now that your faith shall be greatly rewarded. Your perseverance shall be greatly rewarded. There is nothing you do for My name's sake that I do not notice. There is nothing you do for Me that you will not be rewarded for and greatly so.
For some of you I shall reveal to you the reasons for your long trials in days to come. Others will know later. Some of you, however, have brought your trials upon yourselves when you did not heed My voice of warning to you at an earlier time.
Often I am blamed for trials My children suffer which they brought upon themselves by sin, ignoring My warnings or other disobedience. This should not be so, My children, for I am a loving and a faithful father. How can I keep you safe if you will not obey Me?

The Dark Side Of Halloween: The Kind Of Stuff That Real Life Nightmares Are Made Of
On October 31st, tens of millions of Americans will celebrate Halloween by going trick-or-treating or by attending costume parties. For most people, Halloween is a fun evening of dressing up and eating too much candy, and it is a holiday that is becoming more popular than ever. According to a recent report from the National Retail Federation, seven out of every 10 Americans plan to celebrate Halloween this year. That is the highest level that the National Retail Federation has ever recorded. This year, it is being projected that Americans will spend $6.86 billion on Halloween. Every year Halloween just keeps getting bigger and bigger. But there is also a dark side to Halloween. It is not "politically correct" to talk about this, but the truth is that the way that many people choose to celebrate Halloween is the kind of stuff that real life nightmares are made of.
This article is controversial. If you are going to be very offended or very frightened by what really goes on deep in the woods on Halloween night, then you probably should not read it.
It is not "cool" to talk about the dark things that happen on Halloween. A lot of people will get very upset when they read this article. But just because people want to deny what is going on does not mean that the horrific rituals and blood sacrifices described below do not exist.
So please be warned. This article is attempting to discuss a very, very controversial subject. If you think that this may deeply offend or deeply traumatize you, then you might not want to read it.

So how exactly did we get this holiday that we call "Halloween"?
A recent article posted on Raiders News Update summarized some of the history behind this holiday....
ALL HALLOWS' EVE, or Halloween, originated in the 7th century AD. It was celebrated on 13 May and was a night for remembering deceased saints and martyrs. The date was later changed to November 1 in order to Christianize the pagan holidays Beltane and Samhain--festivals of summer, winter and fire.
The Catholic Church attempted to make a very popular pagan festival an official holiday of Catholicism. But the truth is that Samhain was celebrated for many centuries before "Halloween" was ever invented. In fact, there are many groups that celebrate Samhain even today.
A lot of Protestants did not approve of "Halloween". In many areas of early America, Halloween was considered to be so evil that it was banned. But later on as waves of immigrants from Europe came over the celebration of Halloween began to spread and today it has been overwhelming accepted by most of society.
When I was growing up, most children would dress up as ghosts, cartoon characters or super heroes on Halloween.
But today, Halloween has become much more "edgy" and much more "seductive".
An article posted on the website of the L.A. Times noted that even girls as young as seven or eight years old are now dressing very "sexy" for Halloween....
"Halloween costumes for 7- and 8-year-old girls and even younger have become downright titillating, and for tweens and teens, the vast majority of those sold in stores and on the Internet are unabashedly sexually alluring."
But is this a good thing? In a recent article for the Washington Times, Tricia Owen lamented how depraved Halloween is becoming....
What’s happened to Halloween? I live around the corner from one of those pop-up costume shops, and looking in the window is truly frightening. Not because of all the ghouls and goblins, but because of what can only be described as the debasement of Halloween. There are the sexy nurse, sexy teacher, sexy witch, naughty nun - a seemingly endless supply of not sexy, but R-rated costumes.
Since when did Halloween become an excuse to dress so, well, slutty?
Unfortunately, the truth is that Halloween was never an "innocent" holiday. It is just that mainstream America is quite a bit more eager to embrace the darkness of Halloween these days.
Most Americans are completely unaware of it, but the reality is that some very, very bizarre rituals take place on Halloween night. For some, Halloween night is the most important night of the year.
There is a reason why many animal shelters and pet stores refuse to adopt out black cats in the weeks leading up to Halloween.

"This is a time when blood rituals take place," said Hedy Litke, director of animal placement at the ASPCA. "Black cats are often sacrificed."
Once again this Halloween, there will be cats, dogs and other animals that will be tortured and/or sacrificed.
The people that work at animal shelters day in and day out know what is going on. The following is from an article in the Baltimore Sun....
"As horrible as this may sound, cats are tortured around Halloween time," said Deborah Thomas, executive director of the Maryland SPCA, which for years has enforced a virtual moratorium on black cat adoptions in the days before Halloween. "It's just incredible what people will do to cats, as if they don't have any feelings."
Reportedly, black cats and white cats are the ones most commonly used in these rituals, but as an article in the L.A. Times noted, these groups will use cats of any color if they are desperate....
"There are also so-called religious groups that sacrifice animals," said Leslie Eppick of the Glendale SPCA. "If desperate, they will take any cat, no matter what color."
For those that love cats, stories like these are absolutely horrifying. How anyone could treat cats this way is absolutely inconceivable.
But this stuff really happens.

The black cat was carried into the woods near a Clayton County, Ga. apartment complex, sprayed with flammable liquid and set on fire.
In Stockbridge, Ga., someone tried to chemically burn a devil caricature, horns and all, into the face of a black kitten.
As another Halloween approaches, animal activists and animal shelter officials say black cats, always shrouded in superstition, always linked to bad luck, again are at risk for twisted holiday rituals.
"I think more happens than we know about," Deborah Rumbold of PeachState Pet Partners said.
In recent years, there has been an explosion of interest in the occult in the United States. Some of the most popular books, television shows and movies have been about vampires, witches, warlocks, ghosts and dark supernatural phenomena.
Unfortunately, some people seem to want to act out these things in real life. For example, down in Florida recently an 18-year-old girl was charged along with four others of beating a 16-year-old boy to death.
What was so strange about this was the fact that the 18-year-old girl actually believes that she is part vampire and part werewolf.
The following comes from an article about this bizarre incident from the local NBC affiliate in Miami....
Stephanie Pistey confirmed assertions by police in Parker, Fla., that the people involved in the July murder of 16-year-old Jacob Hendershot were in a vampire cult. Pistey, who was arrested last Monday and charged with accessory to murder, said she sees herself as a modern day Dracula.
"Since I was like 12 every fiber in my body, basically everything, I know this is going to be crazy, but I believe that I'm a vampire and part werewolf," Pistey told WBBH-TV.
Sadly, this is not just an isolated incident. Just check out the following description of another "vampire crime" that comes from a recent article by the Christian Post....
Just a few months ago, a 19-year-old in Texas, claiming to have been a 500-year-old vampire needing to be fed, broke into a woman’s home, threw her against the wall, and tried to suck her blood.
Whether you want to deny it or not, the truth is that there are some people out there that take this stuff very, very seriously.
For many of them, Halloween is the highlight of the year.
You see, it is not just cats that are abused and sacrificed on Halloween.
Children are often involved as well.
You won't find it very often in the mainstream news, but the reality is that a lot of people have come forward with stories of what really happens on Halloween night.
If you don't want to believe what they are saying, then don't believe it.
But that doesn't mean that it is not happening.

He would "all gather, lets get this thing on the road" and cheers would sound up as the wild tones would echo. I and other kids, children of the others there were in a cabin like building. The big kids would then get the little kid that was chosen by the adults. That night it was me.

My father was actually a Satanic high priest, so he did all kinds of evil things. He sexually assaulted me, took me to satanic rituals. My father actually used me as a baby breeder, which means I was impregnated so the Satanists would have a baby to sacrifice to the devil in their Satanic rituals. As soon as I was able to have a baby, I was pregnant."

DHS Announces Halloween Checkpoints In Tennessee To Keep Children Safe

Following the announcement that TSA agents would be involved in manning highway checkpoints in Tennessee, the State’s Homeland Security Commissioner said yesterday that a raft of new “security checkpoints” would be in place over the Halloween period to “keep roadways safe for trick-or-treaters”.
Well, if it’s ‘for the children’, who are we to kick up a fuss?
“State Troopers will be conducting safety checkpoints, sobriety roadblocks, saturation patrols and other enforcement techniques to look for aggressive or impaired drivers,” over the next few days, in order to “keep roadways safe for trick-or-treaters,” according to Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Bill Gibbons, whose office’s role includes “terrorism prevention”.
Since the Jackson Sun has already announced where the checkpoints will be located, enabling any bad guys to avoid them, is this really about keeping the kids safe or is it about revenue generation?
States raise much-needed cash from impounding vehicles from unlicensed drivers, but legal precedent dictates that the checkpoints would be in violation of the 4th amendment and therefore unconstitutional unless “public safety” can be cited as a pretext. Hence, they’re labeled DUI checkpoints and every traveler has their protection against unreasonable searches and seizures violated.
If it’s “for the children,” then the constitution is null and void.
Apparently, because one person was killed in a car crash in Tennessee last Halloween, that justifies the bill of rights being discarded in favor of Soviet-style checkpoints.
In reality, this represents another example of how Homeland Security has stepped way beyond its mandate and is becoming a literal occupying force in America.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Transportation Security Administration officials would be manning highway checkpoints in Tennessee targeting truck drivers.
After public outrage, the TSA attempted to neutralize the controversy by claiming that the inspections were carried out by State Troopers (the TSA agents were there to try to recruit truck drivers into becoming snitches for the ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign), and that the checkpoints were merely temporary.
In reality, the program was the latest phase of the TSA’s rapidly expanding VIPR program, under which TSA agents have been deployed to shake down Americans at everywhere from bus depots, to ferry terminals, to train stations, in one instance conducting pat downs of passengers, including children, who had already completed their journey when arriving in Savannah.
So let’s not concern ourselves with the fact that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano admitted to how her department was authorizing illegal aliens, felons who have knowingly broken the law, to work inside the United States, so long as we’re safe in the knowledge that Americans will be getting searched at checkpoints in order to take care of trick-or-treating children this Halloween – that’s what really matters.

Radio host Glenn Beck has spoken of his fear that the upcoming Emergency Alert System test being conducted by Homeland Security and FEMA on November 9 gives the government the pretext to “seize control” of communications in America, because for the first time broadcasters will have no choice on whether to partake.

This isn’t the first time Exercise Pacific Wave has been done. It was done in 2006 on May 16 and 17 using Philippines and Chile tsunami sources. Java is in roughly the same region as the Philippines and experienced several large devastating EQs (and a tsunami) soon after the exercise.
Pacific Wave was done again from October 28-30, 2008, and used a northeast Japan source.
Coincidentally there are other exercises scheduled.
Mega tsunami drill in Crete, Greece right now.
The scenario:
An 8R scale earthquake strikes close to the island of Crete. A huge tsunami is generated.
The exercise is based on the July 365 BC tsunami when an undersea earthquake measuring over 8R occurred in the sea west of Crete and caused not only huge geological changes on the island, but terrible disasters, exacerbated by a tsunami that led to erase from the map dozens of cities Crete and caused thousands of dead.
The drill:
The Pan-European wide drill called “Poseidon” was organised “on the map” last May and takes place these days 24 and October 25 on location (the scedule was for Chania but I heard that they included Heraklion too -the two biggest cities of Crete) .
On location, there are “watchers” from over 30 countries participating in the European Civil Protection Mechanism.
(I heard on tv that it concerns especially all the countries that are around the Mediterranean Sea).

Poseidon is a program funded by the European Union, aimed to prepare the Civil Protection Mechanism in Greece to deal with a devastating earthquake tsunami, through the cooperation of Civil Protection Authorities at local, regional, national and European level. The Civil Protection Authorities of Cyprus and France participate in this project and an evaluation of the exercise will be performed through the European Civil Protection Mechanism.

Successful test of the Tsunami Warning System in North-eastern Atlantic, Mediterranean and connected seas
Paris, 10 August – The communication network of the Tsunami Early Warning and Mitigation System for the North-eastern Atlantic, the Mediterranean and connected seas (NEAMTWS) was tested successfully on 10 August, marking a leap forward for the system which was initiated under the aegis of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) in 2005.
The test involved the Tsunami Warning Focal Points of 31 countries in the region. They received a test message at 10.36 UTC via electronic mail, fax and the Global Telecommunications System (GTS) from the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI, Turkey). Early results show the messages were well received within a few minutes of being sent.
UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova expressed satisfaction over the success of the test. “This past decade alone has shown us the terrible destructive power of earthquakes and tsunami on several occasions,” said the Director-General. “Today’s test represents a significant step towards improving security for the lives of tens of millions of people in the North-eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean, and meeting UNESCO’s ambition of establishing early warning systems globally.”

From 7 Billion People To 500 Million People – The Sick Population Control Agenda Of The Global Elite
The United Nations has officially designated October 31st as 7 Billion Day. On that day, the United Nations estimates that the population of the earth will hit 7 billion for the very first time. But instead of celebrating what a milestone 7 billion people represents, the UNPF is focusing instead on using October 31st to raise awareness about "sustainability" and "sustainable development". In other words, the United Nations is once again declaring that there are way too many people on the planet and that we need to take more direct measures to reduce fertility. In recent years, the UN and other international organizations have become bolder about trying to push the sick population control agenda of the global elite. Most of the time organizations such as the UN will simply talk about "stabilizing" the global population, but as you will see in this article, there are many among the global elite that are not afraid to openly talk about a goal of reducing the population of the world to 500 million (or less). To you and I it may seem like insanity to want to get rid of more than 90 percent of the global population, but there is a growing consensus among the global elite that this is absolutely necessary for the good of the planet.
As we approach October 31st, dozens of articles are appearing in newspapers all over the globe that are declaring what a horrible thing it is that we are up to 7 billion people.
In fact, it surely is no accident that the United Nations put 7 Billion Day on the exact same day as Halloween. Perhaps they want to highlight how "scary" it is that we have 7 billion people on the planet, or perhaps they are trying to send us a message by having 7 Billion Day occur on the same day as "the festival of death".
In any event, it seems like way too much of a coincidence that 7 Billion Day just happens to fall on the same day as Halloween.
Today, "sustainable development" has become one of the key buzzwords that those in the radical environmental movement love to use, but most Americans have no idea that one of the key elements of "sustainable development" is population control.
So what precisely is considered to be an ideal population for the earth by those pushing "sustainable development"?
Well, of course there is much disagreement on this issue, but many are very open about the fact that they believe that the earth should only have 500 million people (or less) on it.
For example, the first of the "new 10 commandments" on the infamous Georgia Guidestones states the following....
"Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature."
CNN Founder Ted Turner would go even farther....
"A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal."
Dave Foreman, the co-founder of Earth First, says that reducing our population down to 100 million is one of his three main goals....
"My three main goals would be to reduce human population to about 100 million worldwide, destroy the industrial infrastructure and see wilderness, with it’s full complement of species, returning throughout the world."
Sadly, this kind of garbage is even being taught at major U.S. universities. For example, Professor of Biology at the University of Texas at Austin Eric R. Pianka once wrote the following....
I do not bear any ill will toward people. However, I am convinced that the world, including all humanity, WOULD clearly be much better off without so many of us.
Mikhail Gorbachev thinks that reducing the global population by 90 percent would be just about right....
"We must speak more clearly about sexuality, contraception, about abortion, about values that control population, because the ecological crisis, in short, is the population crisis. Cut the population by 90% and there aren't enough people left to do a great deal of ecological damage."
But most of the time, the way that the global elite speak of population control is much more "politically correct". They tend to use terms such as "sustainable development" and "reduction of fertility rates" and "quality of life" when discussing the need to reduce our population.
As 7 Billion Day has approached, there have been articles popping up in major publications all over the globe that are advocating increased population control measures. Of course in the western world such measures are always framed as being "voluntary", but that is the way that they always introduce things like this. Once enough people get on board with the "voluntary" population control measures they will become "mandatory".
So now that you are aware of some of the buzzwords that are used, check out what has been written on some of the biggest news websites in the world recently....
Jeffrey D. Sachs, the director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University, recently said the following in an article for CNN....
"The arrival of the 7 billionth person is cause for profound global concern. It carries a challenge: What will it take to maintain a planet in which each person has a chance for a full, productive and prosperous life, and in which the planet's resources are sustained for future generations?
"How, in short, can we enjoy 'sustainable development' on a very crowded planet?"
For Sachs, one of the "keys" to sustainable development is the "stabilization" of the global population....
"The second key to sustainable development is the stabilization of the global population. This is already occurring in high-income and even some middle-income countries, as families choose to have one or two children on average. The reduction of fertility rates should be encouraged in the poorer countries as well."
In a recent article for the Guardian, Roger Martin stated that all of the problems that humanity is facing would be easier to solve if less people were running around the planet....
"...all environmental (and many economic and social) problems are easier to solve with fewer people, and ultimately impossible with ever more."
He also says that if we reduce the population, it will mean better lives for all the rest of us....
"On a finite planet, the optimum population providing the best quality of life for all, is clearly much smaller than the maximum, permitting bare survival. The more we are, the less for each; fewer people mean better lives."
But is that really the case?
Of course not.
There has been tremendous human suffering all throughout history. If we eliminated 90 percent of the global population it would not suddenly usher in some kind of "golden age".
But many among the global elite are truly convinced that we are spoiling "their planet" and they don't want so many of us around anymore. Thanks to technology, they only need a few hundred million people to run their system, and they view the rest of us as "useless eaters".
This all may sound quite bizarre to many of you, but this is the kind of stuff that is being taught in colleges and universities across the western world.
In fact, you are starting to see an increasing number of people in the western world actually suggest that we adopt a "one-child policy" such as China has. For example, the following is from an opinion piece that appeared in the National Post....
A planetary law, such as China's one-child policy, is the only way to reverse the disastrous global birthrate currently, which is one million births every four days.
The author of the opinion piece believes that such a "one-child policy" would reduce the global population to 3.43 billion by 2075....
The intelligence behind this is the following:
-If only one child per female was born as of now, the world's population would drop from its current 6.5 billion to 5.5 billion by 2050, according to a study done for scientific academy Vienna Institute of Demography.
-By 2075, there would be 3.43 billion humans on the planet. This would have immediate positive effects on the world's forests, other species, the oceans, atmospheric quality and living standards.
This is the kind of stuff that a lot of these people sit around and think about all day long.
They are obsessed with death and with reducing the population as rapidly as possible. They see us as a "plague" that is ravaging the planet, and they believe that by getting rid of us they would actually be saving the earth.
Due to public opinion, population control advocates have to tread lightly in the western world. But where they can get away with it, they are not afraid to be very forceful.
I have already discussed the horrific one-child policy in China. As the Epoch Times recently noted, enforcement of this policy can be absolutely brutal....
"Pregnant women lacking birth permits are hunted down like criminals by population planning police in China and forcibly aborted."
If you don't believe something like this can ever happen in the western world, you might want to think again.
Limitations on child births are already showing up in popular television shows. For example, a new show on Fox called Terra Nova portrays the future of the earth as a living hell due to overpopulation. People in the future can hardly breathe the air due to overwhelming pollution and a strict "two-child policy" is rigidly enforced.
The family featured in Terra Nova is able to go through a portal to a prehistoric world that is 85 million years in the past. In this "new world", humans have set up a wonderful new socialist society where everyone is provided for and where "green technology" is helping them to avoid making the "mistakes" of the past.
Unfortunately, socialist utopias such as the one portrayed on Terra Nova only exist in works of fiction.
Instead, what happens most of the time in real life is that the "good intentions" of social planners devolve into absolute tyranny when put into practice.
For example, just check out what a recent National Geographic article said happened when social planners in India tried to aggressively reduce birth rates in India in the 1970s....
The Indian government tried once before to push vasectomies, in the 1970s, when anxiety about the population bomb was at its height. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay used state-of-emergency powers to force a dramatic increase in sterilizations. From 1976 to 1977 the number of operations tripled, to more than eight million. Over six million of those were vasectomies. Family planning workers were pressured to meet quotas; in a few states, sterilization became a condition for receiving new housing or other government benefits. In some cases the police simply rounded up poor people and hauled them to sterilization camps.
How would you feel if you were rounded up and hauled off to a sterilization camp?
Sterilization programs (most of the time they are "voluntary") are in full force all over the globe. Much of the time they are sponsored and funded by the United Nations. The global elite are absolutely obsessed with getting women to have less babies.
That is one reason why abortion is so very important to them.
Recently, Al Gore made the following statement regarding population control....
"One of the things we could do about it is to change the technologies, to put out less of this pollution, to stabilize the population, and one of the principle ways of doing that is to empower and educate girls and women. You have to have ubiquitous availability of fertility management so women can choose how many children have, the spacing of the children.
The elite love to use terms such as "fertility management" and "family planning", but what they really intend is for there to be less pregnancies and more abortions so that the population will not grow as quickly.
They certainly do not intend to empower women to have more children.
This agenda was also very much reflected when the March 2009 U.N. Population Division policy brief asked this shocking question....
"What would it take to accelerate fertility decline in the least developed countries?"
Now who in the world gave the UN the right to be trying to "accelerate fertility decline" for women in poor countries?
But to many in the global elite, trying to get women to have less babies makes all the sense in the world. In a recent editorial for the New York Times entitled "The Earth Is Full", Thomas L. Friedman made the following statement....
You really do have to wonder whether a few years from now we’ll look back at the first decade of the 21st century — when food prices spiked, energy prices soared, world population surged, tornados plowed through cities, floods and droughts set records, populations were displaced and governments were threatened by the confluence of it all — and ask ourselves: What were we thinking? How did we not panic when the evidence was so obvious that we’d crossed some growth/climate/natural resource/population redlines all at once?
These people honestly and truly believe this stuff.
Unfortunately, this agenda is even represented in the highest levels of our own government.
Barack Obama's top science advisor, John P. Holdren, once wrote the following....

According to a recent article in the Daily Mail, thousands of "abnormal" babies are now being selectively aborted in the UK each year....
Thousands of pregnancies were aborted last year for ‘abnormalities’ including 500 for Down’s syndrome, new figures reveal.
In total, there were 2,290 abortions for medical problems with the foetus, with 147 performed after 24 weeks.
In a world that is "overpopulated", babies that are not "perfect" become more "disposable" than ever.
In fact, the truth is that the population control agenda and the "abortion rights movement" have been inseparably linked for decades. Those that are obsessed with "overpopulation" view abortion as a very necessary method of birth control, and one of their main goals is to expand access to "reproductive health care" to as many women around the globe as possible.
But in the end, our "voluntary" actions are not going to be nearly enough to reduce the population and most population control advocates realize that. Many of them are openly calling for a "benevolent" global authority to take charge to lead us through the "necessary" transition that is ahead.

Imagine going to sleep one night and waking up many years later in a totally different world. In this futuristic world, literally everything you do is tightly monitored and controlled by control freak bureaucrats in the name of "sustainable development" and with the goal of promoting "the green agenda". An international ruling body has centralized global control over all human activity. What you eat, what you drink, where you live, how warm or cold your home can be and how much fuel you can use is determined by them. Anyone that dissents or that tries to rebel against the system is sent off for "re-education". The human population is 90 percent lower than it is today in this futuristic society, and all remaining humans have been herded into tightly constricted cities which are run much like prisons.
This is the endgame for the radical green agenda. In order to save the earth, they feel as though they must dramatically reduce our numbers and very tightly control our activities.
But is that the kind of a future that anyone would actually want to live in? Would anyone actually choose to live in a future where bureaucrats micromanage our lives for the good of the environment?
Personally, I think that the 7 billion people on earth would do just fine if they were given a lot more liberty and freedom to live their own lives as they see fit.
But letting people decide how to run their own lives is anathema to those that have bought into the population control agenda of the global elite.
They actually believe that they are smarter than all of the rest of us and that they need to tell us what to do for the good of humanity and for the good of the planet.
This patronizing approach should truly sicken all freedom-loving Americans.

As we approach October 31st, dozens of articles are appearing in newspapers all over the globe that are declaring what a horrible thing it is that we are up to 7 billion people.
In fact, it surely is no accident that the United Nations put 7 Billion Day on the exact same day as Halloween. Perhaps they want to highlight how "scary" it is that we have 7 billion people on the planet, or perhaps they are trying to send us a message by having 7 Billion Day occur on the same day as "the festival of death".
In any event, it seems like way too much of a coincidence that 7 Billion Day just happens to fall on the same day as Halloween.
Today, "sustainable development" has become one of the key buzzwords that those in the radical environmental movement love to use, but most Americans have no idea that one of the key elements of "sustainable development" is population control.
So what precisely is considered to be an ideal population for the earth by those pushing "sustainable development"?
Well, of course there is much disagreement on this issue, but many are very open about the fact that they believe that the earth should only have 500 million people (or less) on it.
For example, the first of the "new 10 commandments" on the infamous Georgia Guidestones states the following....
"Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature."
CNN Founder Ted Turner would go even farther....
"A total population of 250-300 million people, a 95% decline from present levels, would be ideal."
Dave Foreman, the co-founder of Earth First, says that reducing our population down to 100 million is one of his three main goals....
"My three main goals would be to reduce human population to about 100 million worldwide, destroy the industrial infrastructure and see wilderness, with it’s full complement of species, returning throughout the world."
Sadly, this kind of garbage is even being taught at major U.S. universities. For example, Professor of Biology at the University of Texas at Austin Eric R. Pianka once wrote the following....
I do not bear any ill will toward people. However, I am convinced that the world, including all humanity, WOULD clearly be much better off without so many of us.
Mikhail Gorbachev thinks that reducing the global population by 90 percent would be just about right....
"We must speak more clearly about sexuality, contraception, about abortion, about values that control population, because the ecological crisis, in short, is the population crisis. Cut the population by 90% and there aren't enough people left to do a great deal of ecological damage."
But most of the time, the way that the global elite speak of population control is much more "politically correct". They tend to use terms such as "sustainable development" and "reduction of fertility rates" and "quality of life" when discussing the need to reduce our population.
As 7 Billion Day has approached, there have been articles popping up in major publications all over the globe that are advocating increased population control measures. Of course in the western world such measures are always framed as being "voluntary", but that is the way that they always introduce things like this. Once enough people get on board with the "voluntary" population control measures they will become "mandatory".

Jeffrey D. Sachs, the director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University, recently said the following in an article for CNN....
"The arrival of the 7 billionth person is cause for profound global concern. It carries a challenge: What will it take to maintain a planet in which each person has a chance for a full, productive and prosperous life, and in which the planet's resources are sustained for future generations?
"How, in short, can we enjoy 'sustainable development' on a very crowded planet?"
For Sachs, one of the "keys" to sustainable development is the "stabilization" of the global population....
"The second key to sustainable development is the stabilization of the global population. This is already occurring in high-income and even some middle-income countries, as families choose to have one or two children on average. The reduction of fertility rates should be encouraged in the poorer countries as well."
In a recent article for the Guardian, Roger Martin stated that all of the problems that humanity is facing would be easier to solve if less people were running around the planet....
"...all environmental (and many economic and social) problems are easier to solve with fewer people, and ultimately impossible with ever more."
He also says that if we reduce the population, it will mean better lives for all the rest of us....
"On a finite planet, the optimum population providing the best quality of life for all, is clearly much smaller than the maximum, permitting bare survival. The more we are, the less for each; fewer people mean better lives."
But is that really the case?
Of course not.
There has been tremendous human suffering all throughout history. If we eliminated 90 percent of the global population it would not suddenly usher in some kind of "golden age".
But many among the global elite are truly convinced that we are spoiling "their planet" and they don't want so many of us around anymore. Thanks to technology, they only need a few hundred million people to run their system, and they view the rest of us as "useless eaters".
This all may sound quite bizarre to many of you, but this is the kind of stuff that is being taught in colleges and universities across the western world.
In fact, you are starting to see an increasing number of people in the western world actually suggest that we adopt a "one-child policy" such as China has. For example, the following is from an opinion piece that appeared in the National Post....
